Iowa Restaurant Named One of the Best Breakfast Spots in U.S.

If you live in Eastern Iowa, you won't have to travel far to try this restaurant! According to a recent article from Thrillist, Hamburg Inn No. 2 in Iowa City is one of the 22 best breakfast joints in the whole U.S.!

Hamburg Inn No. 2 is an Iowa City staple, opening up in 1948. It is currently the city's oldest family-owned restaurant, with locations at 214 North Linn Street and 2221 Rochester Avenue. Although they currently only have locations here in Eastern Iowa, they are looking to expand throughout the Midwest.

So, how do you know you serve killer food? When you get the stamp of approval from celebrities and politicians! Their website boasts that former Presidents Barrack Obama, Bill Clinton, and Ronald Reagan have all eaten at their establishment.

Now, the big question is: what should you order? Thrillist writes:

"...don’t forget their omelets, especially the terrifyingly unhealthy/delicious Hawkeye Hog, featuring sausage, hash browns, and American cheese, all smothered in country gravy. Or really make the state proud and make that Hawkeye Hog a Tater Topper, and then tuck griddled home fries or hash browns under it. Oh, and while your eyes are locked on Tom Arnold’s sick ‘do, you might as well get the Cinnamon Roll French Toast too."
