We have a special bond with animals, there's no disputing that. However, the connection between 4H students and the animals they show is something very unique. You see it in the barns at every county fair you attend. However, the bond between Mitchell Miner of Williamsburg and his heifer, Audri, is extra special. This photo was snapped Saturday by Mitchell's dad, Jeremy, after a competition at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines.

Mitchell told the Des Moines Register,

She likes to lay down quite a bit. I don't really understand the bond with my animal either. She just enjoys my company."

What's most amazing is that Jeremy developed his relationship with Audri in a short time. His family borrowed her from a dairy farm in Blairstown for the summer. After a final showing next month, she'll be returned.

Audri finished fifth out of seven contestants in the youth dairy cattle show last weekend at the Iowa State Fair. She may not have done as well as Mitchell hoped, but it isn't always about winning. However, Mitchell is clearly a big winner in Audri's eyes. Something tells me he feels the same way about her.
