It wasn't the opening game effort that Fran McCaffery wanted for his Iowa team, but a win is a win. The Hawkeyes topped Missouri Kansas City 77-63 Thursday night at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The starting lineup didn't provide much punch early on. Freshman Joe Wieskamp was the only Hawkeye hitting early. He finished with a team-high 15 points, hitting four of his five three-point attempts. The rest of the Iowa team shot one of twelve from beyond the arc. That won't get it done the rest of the season.

Maishe Dailey gave the Hawkeyes some punch off of the bench, scoring 11 points and allowing Iowa to finally pull away in the second half. Iowa led by only 8 at halftime. Iowa's two best players, Jordan Bohannan, and Tyler Cook had no field goals in the first half. Both players finished the game with 12 points apiece.

Iowa will be at home on Sunday as the host Green Bay at 2 p.m.
