Take a ride along US-151 N out of Cedar Rapids, on IA-64 E and IA-62 N through Maquoketa, over the gravel of Codfish Hollow Road, and you'll see it. It's a barn rising up out of the golden corn fields and rolling hills. It's the Codfish Hollow Barn, to be exact, and it's the best and most unique venue for live music in the state.

The barn, built in 1953, stands on farmland that has been in the Stamp family since 1871. The barn can fit about 600 people for a show. A cow pasture serves as the parking lot. A man named Marv will give you a tractor ride to the venue. It's an experience you have to, well, experience.

Codfish Hollow has hosted hundreds of bands since it was converted to a music venue in 2009. Each summer, music will grace the air and people will come from all around -- including both coasts -- to experience the atmosphere and artistry of a barn in Iowa.

If you've never been, you may want to add this gem to your to-do list this upcoming summer.

If you want to see great live music sooner than summer, join us for the Cedar Rapids Beer Summit on Saturday, March 11 in downtown Cedar Rapids! Big Mojo Band takes the stage fro Cedar Rapids' earliest St. Patrick's Day celebration. Get all of the details on the event right HERE.
