Just How Cold Was Iowa In July?

I loved almost every single moment of July's weather in Cedar Rapids, and so did my air conditioner. The cool temperatures we experienced throughout the month were historic.

In Cedar Rapids, we set a record for the coldest July 16 ever, with a record low of 49 degrees. Brr. July as a whole, with an average temperature of 70.2, was the 3rd coldest ever (tying 1950 and 1958).  Interestingly enough, the coldest July on record was just a few years ago...2009...with the average at 68.6 degrees.

Iowa City tied its coldest July ever with an average temperature of 69.9, tying July of 2009.
