It's that most wonderful stage of the most wonderful time of the year: It's time to hang the lights!
Rest assured, my fellow Hawk-Santas, my house won't look like this:

I used to own a "walker" [No, not that kind...but that's surely on the horizon]. My last house had a roof that was easy to get up to, and had a slope that made for easy movement while cleaning gutters, etc.

I didn't hang any lights at that place.

Now I have a roof with a steeper pitch on two levels. Naturally, I've decided this would be the year to get back on the Shingle Horse. I had a look around when I moved in. The multi-levels mean a 2-ladder job. Frost on the shingles in March nearly sent me to my concrete resting place.

Why didn't I make the climb over the weekend when it was 62 degrees? Well, Good People Of the Land Of The Elf-Hawk, I just didn't think "Bomb Cyclone" would last this long. Mid-20's into next week. OK...now I'm sounding like the Weather Wimps I pretend to loathe.

Anyway, to get psyched about The Climb, [with apoligies to Miley Cyrus] here's some spectacular Iowa holiday electric bills!

All this holiday cheer makes me wonder. When do we start playing the songs of the season? Surely any day now...
