Sometimes, words can lead to change.

A Canadian mom wrote an open letter after her son, who has Down syndrome, was the only person in his class not invited to a classmate's birthday party.

Jennifer Kiss-Engele, of British Columbia, penned the letter on Facebook in defense of her eight-year-old son, Sawyer, who is the lone student in the class with special needs.

Kiss-Engele says the experience has become a "teachable" moment for her and the other child's parent. In the end, Sawyer, of course, did get invited to the party, proving that not only will moms go to the ends of the earth for their children, but they'll also do what they can to enact change in the way others are perceived.
