Halloween is creeping up on us. That means that soon we'll get to experience the FIRST-EVER Halloween Parade in Cedar Rapids!

It's pretty exciting that soon we'll be able to see all of the ghosts and goblins roaming the streets. Why the new tradition? Parade organizer, Peter Durin, recently discussed the reasoning behind the new event with the Gazette. He talked about how when it comes to Halloween, people are always doing different things and no one's really getting together.

"I wanted to bring the whole city of Cedar Rapids together for one big Halloween fest," Durin told the Gazette.

And it will be! Here's the basics of what you need to know:

When: Friday, October 27 from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Where: NewBo and Czech Village

Parade Route: The parade will begin at the corner of 3rd Street SE and 9th Avenue SE and will make its way down 3rd Street to 16th Avenue and will turn right and cross the bridge into Czech Village and ultimately end at C Street SW.

And that's not all! Parade entrants will be handing out candy during the parade, spectators are encouraged to dress in costume and there will be an award ceremony held around 8:45 p.m. at NewBo City Market. Get more details on the Halloween Parade on the NewBo/Czech Village Halloween Parade Facebook page.

This is so exciting, it's almost scary! Be there or be scared!...Wait.
