New Cedar Rapids Restaurant Will Make Its Iowa Debut

The construction around the former Westdale Mall in Cedar Rapids continues and the first restaurant has been announced. It will be the 1,067th for one chain, but the first in Iowa.

Wingstop opened it's first location in 1994 and within eight years had served more than a billion wings. It's based in Dallas, Texas and specializes in cooked-to-order, hand-sauced and tossed chicken wings. They offer 11 flavors including Atomic, Cajun, Mango Habanero, Louisiana Rub, Lemon Pepper, Original Hot, Mild, Hickory Smoked BBQ, Garlic Parmesan, Hawaiian, and Teriyaki.

Wingstop is expected to open the latter half of September on the Edgewood Road side of the former Westdale Mall area.
