There's potentially good news for staff, supporters and patrons of the Cedar Rapids Public Library. But, if you were against the tax levy that was eventually rejected by voters last fall, you're not going to like this.

Cedar Rapids mayor Ron Corbett is proposing a new property-tax increase to fund the library. This time, it would require only city council approval, bypassing a taxpayer vote.

The proposal would raise your property taxes by 3 cents a year over 5 years. Find out more about the new proposal here and learn more about the recent changes the library has made in response to the previous levy rejection.
