The new Late Late Show on CBS launched with a bang. A star-studded guest lineup was puncuated by this amazing skit from host James Corden and the legendary Tom Hanks. After seeing this, does anyone think that he isn't the actor of our generation?

I remember most of those movies. A vast majority are classics. My favorites include The Green Mile, Castaway and Big. Such a talented, grounded, genius performer. I wonder how long it took those two to rehearse that bit.

Corden takes over for one of my favorite hosts, Craig Ferguson. He too was British and came out of nowhere to land the gig. We'll see if Corden can gain an "undergroundswell" of popularity like Ferguson did. He has big shoes to fill. I'm a huge fan of late night chat shows. After evening activities and putting the kids to bed, the 10:30-12:30 time slot is really the only time I get a chance to watch TV. The Jimmy's, Letterman, Conan, Seth and soon Colbert. Love 'em all.

It was once said that the biggest challenge for the late night guys is keeping the nations eyes open. Some amazing shows are being created every night. We're just have so many other entertainment options now that talk shows are sometimes forgotten. I think they are as good today as they've ever been. And the creative ways to fill the :20 minutes before guests hit the chair has never been more entertaining. Case in point: Hanks/Corden. Kudos to James for a great launch.
