If you're still skeptical about the pace of business and the buzz around downtown, this weekend should have changed your mind.

We could not have asked for better weather for the first Downtown Cedar Rapids Farmers' Market this past Saturday, which likely contributed to what KCRG estimated as close to 15,000 people walking the streets for their fresh fruits, produce, crafts, breakfast burritos and LOTS more.

Another contributor to the high attendance was a new transportation option for certain folks in Southwest Cedar Rapids without the means to get downtown on a Saturday.

To The Rescue is an organization that is providing shuttle service to and from the Farmers' Markets to those with limited access to resources provided by the Farmers' Markets including fresh fruit and produce. I think it's a great service to offer.

Saturday was also Resident Appreciation Day with a special gathering in Greene Square to coincide with the Farmers' Market. There were definitely a whole lot of residents around to be appreciated!
