"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

So much for the mantra of the United States Postal Service, because reports say the oncoming polar vortex is suspending midwest delivery in four states, including Iowa on Wednesday, January 30th.

A Facebook post was circulating earlier this week, encouraging the Postal Service to give its workers the day off. We're in no hurry to have that stack of bills delivered!

We'll survive a day without mail, and so will the postal workers who won't be forced to go out on their routes in the face of oncoming extreme cold temperatures and wind chills. It's expected to stay on the frigid side until Friday but no word has come on any other delivery days being cancelled by the USPS.

Minnesota and the western parts of Illinois and Wisconsin will also go without mail Wednesday. There will also be no mail pick up from businesses, collection boxes, residential locations, and package pickup services.

Unfortunately, we can't promise the deadline to pay those bills will be extended.
