We told you last week that the North Liberty City Council would be voting on Tuesday on whether or not to buy some land within the city to build a new dog park. Well, if you were hoping that they would, we have some great news for you!

Pups in the North Liberty area will finally have a park of their own to play and meet with other dogs, because the city has officially approved the plans. During the meeting last night, the City Council agreed to use $225,000 from the city's budget to help purchase the land needed for the park. CBS 2 reports that the land consists of 11.5 acres, with seven acres of that designated as a fenced space for dogs.

Most excited about this seems to be the Johnson County Dog Park Action Committee, who have been working on getting a dog park in North Liberty for three years. They have even pledged to donate $50,000 dollars to build the park and are continuing to collect donations online. The Board President for the Johnson County Dog Park Action Committee says that they hope to get the fencing done so they can open a basic park sometime next summer.
