[UPDATED] One Person Killed In Accident Near Cherry Hill Park

An accident near Cherry Hill Park in Cedar Rapids claimed the life of one person Tuesday evening. The accident happened around 6 p.m. at the intersection of E Avenue and Stoney Point Road NW.

Authorities say that the driver of one of the vehicles failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a vehicle driven by 25-year-old Brianna Jo Collum of Cedar Rapids. That vehicle continued on after the collision, became airborne and hit a tree. The driver of that vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. Thursday afternoon, the Linn County Sheriff's Office announced the person killed in the crash was 24-year old Zacariah Thomsen, 24, of Cedar Rapids.

The accident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Department.
