One of the most beautiful buildings in Cedar Rapids is no doubt the historic Paramount Theatre.  From the moment we walked through it's doors post remodel, we were in love.  They took a building that was already breathtaking, but then destroyed by the flood, and turned it into something even more gorgeous.  Every time I go there for a show, one of my favorite things is to simply people watch as attendees walk through the doors.  It's easy to spot first timers whose eyes start darting around, looking up at the chandeliers and all the details.  I love seeing the faces of the kids as their jaws drop.  During the holiday shows, I was talking with a staffer who was stunned at how many people were lining up to take a picture by the tree on the landing of the main staircase.  I totally got it though, as you're usually dressed to the nines for a show at the Paramount, and here is this beautiful setting, so why not.

Earlier today, I discovered this video, which takes the beauty of the Paramount to the next level.  It's truly stunning how this company can transform an already elegant space into something even more amazing.  Wow!

If you have yet to see a show at the Paramount, I highly encourage you to just pick a show and go. "Ragtime: The Musical" is coming up, which should be outstanding, as it's part of the Broadway at the Paramount series.  There's also "Disney In Concert" with Orchestra Iowa in just a couple week.  Just make sure whatever show you pick, you arrive early, and take a walk at intermission.  Give yourself the chance to just enjoy the beauty of such an awesome building right here in Cedar Rapids.
