2018 is off to a rough start for some Iowa residents with record low temperatures. The extremely cold weather has been so harsh that it has caused pipes and even water towers to freeze across the state.

It appears that these issues have now made their way to our own building. Around 11:30 this morning a pipe burst in the Prairie Soup Company located in the Plaza 425 building in downtown Cedar Rapids. The busted pipes caused several issues, one of which being a waterfall that poured into the lobby of the building. The waterfall and flooding can be seen in the video below.

As you can imagine, walking into the building to find the lobby looking like some sort of water park would have been alarming to say the least. Firefighters, along with the building manager, were able to resolve the issue. Let's hope things warm up fast, so we can avoid further issues such as this in the area.
