Officials in Cedar Rapids say that a possible tornado caused damage on the cities northwest side on Monday night. The storm hit just after 9 p.m. and residents in the area reported hearing very high winds.

Officials with Linn County Emergency Management say that there are several homes with damage near Jackson School. There were also damage reports in Cedar Hills, along O Avenue NW from Edgewood Road to Hillside Drive. Damage was also reported near Gordon Avenue at West Post Road to near E Avenue and Wiley Boulevard.

Officials are asking the public to please avoid traveling through storm-affected areas on the cities northwest side this morning. Alliant Energy says that over 2,000 residents lost power due to the storms, but nearly all have been restored as of this morning. The National Weather Service is sending a team today to investigate and confirm whether a tornado did hit Cedar Rapids. No warning was issued when the storm rolled through.

Despite the damage, there are NO reports of any injuries.
