You'd think a warm-weather, summer-loving person like myself should be all in on this unseasonably mild winter we're having and for the most part I am (No, it's not officially winter yet, but work with me). But I also happen to be one of those people who always dreams of a "White Christmas". I'm not looking for the extreme winter we had two years ago, but a middle ground somewhere between that and our recent circumstances would be nice. Slightly more normal conditions are coming and as they arrive, I've thought about and enlisted the help of Facebook friends to come up with some pros and cons of the mild winter.

Pros

Lower heating and utility bills.

Less snow plowing and salting over the icy walks and streets.

No need to warm up the car or scrape off the windshield.

Not needing to allow extra time to reach your destination due to poor road conditions.

Easier travel conditions.

Not feeling like you want to die everytime you walk outside (if you hate cold weather).

Saving gas by not needing to use the remote car starter several times a day.

Multiple layers of winter clothing not required.

Cons

Not having a "White Christmas" for those who enjoy it.

Not conducive to recreational outdoor winter activities like skiing, sledding, ice skating or ice fishing.

Lack of work for those who rely on snow and ice removal for winter income.

Fewer "snow days" for the kids (although this might be a pro for the parents!)

The idea that a mild and snow-free December could mean getting pummelled even worse in January and February

It's getting colder, but will we have that "White Christmas"? We'll have to wait and see, but it's not looking likely. Add your thoughts to either list with a post in the comment section, and have a merry Christmas!
