Being a Radio Dad Just Got My Kid in Trouble At School
Having a parent who's a radio DJ can a cool thing for kids, as my 2 will attest. To them, their Dad is a celebrity. However, there can also be a real downside to it, as my son apparently found out yesterday, the hard way.
When your parent works on the radio, you listen to their station a lot, if not more so than other radio loving kids. As such, you know ALL the words, some which might be offensive, especially when taken out of context, even on a safe station. For example, yesterday, he was on the playground with his friends, when they suddenly ran off and told the teacher on him. Why? Because he was repeatedly telling them to "Shut Up". When questioned, he pleaded his case saying he was just singing "Shut Up and Dance." First graders... poor guy.
So yeah, there's certain downfalls I guess. Of course, I should be enjoying that they still find it cool, and I do, because soon, I know it'll be more of an embarrassment.
