Maybe that's why you're bound to be impressed by this robot that can solve a Rubik's Cube in one second. One second -- think about that. That's the same amount of time it takes to say "one second."

Software engineers Jay Flatland and Paul Rose are the mad scientists behind the contraption and as you can see, their robot manages to complete the puzzle in one second several times (but not in a way as cool as this or this).

We're not going to lie -- we don't fully understand the science behind their creation. We're not software engineers, after all. What we do understand is that this blink-if-you-miss-it accomplishment is uber-impressive, especially when we consider that we have never been able to solve it.

The duo hopes to be recognized for the world record for quickest time finishing the Rubik's Cube. That mark is currently held by Lucas Etter, who did it in a ridiculously slow 4.9 seconds.
