We thought it a little odd that Tom Hanks was noodling over a new David Pumpkins sketch before SNL even got to October, and NBC has finally answered our questions. The viral Halloween character will return for a half-hour animated special, with Hanks and Peter Dinklage lending their voices.

NBC confirms that Hanks will lead animated The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special on Saturday, October 28 at 11:30 P.M., in place of the usual SNL airtime. Hanks will naturally reprise his role, joined by Game of Thrones star Peter Drunklage Dinklage, and sketch creators/stars Mikey Day, Bobby Moynihan and Streeter Seidell. As to the story:

Set in a small suburban town on All Hallows’ Eve, the special centers on David Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way.

The original “Haunted Elevator” sketch went viral after Hanks’ October 2016 episode, but naturally lost focus to the November election. The character made a brief return as “David S. Pimpkins” in the Season 42 finale “Rap Video.”

In the meantime, SNL Season 43 will premiere this Saturday with Ryan Gosling, so stay tuned for further details.
