Some of My Favorite (and Strangest) Garage Sale Purchases

I love garage sales. And, I really love the KDAT World's Largest Garage Sale. It's coming May 9th to Hawkeye Downs and I'm counting down the days. It's like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna haul home. And, if you want to haul some stuff out of your home, we still have booth space available. We'll put your merchandise in front of hundreds of Eastern Iowans.

I'm a tech/electronics collector. Snagged those cans [radio lingo for headphones] and Sony receiver combo in the picture from a friend at his garage sale. If it plugs in, I'll take a look at it.

Some of my other favorite purchases over the years at our big event at The Downs and in my own neighborhood include...

• A weed whacker with a broken spool (I picked up the $3 spool and it works great).
• Rack of frisbees. All sizes, beach discs and golf discs. Flying fun!
• Fish tank with frog food. Just add frogs. I did and they are neat.
• Mini fridge. Great for dorms. Even better for the garage or office.
• Lighted Santa. All the others I've purchased are broken. 'Ol St. Nick still glows.
• Cassettes. Yes, I still spin 'em from time to time.
