UPDATE:  The van was recovered in West DesMoines.  Suspect still at large, but leads are pouring in.

How low can criminals go? The latest stupid criminal stunt affects a great organization striving for betterment in our community. The Cedar Rapids Boys & Girls Club reports someone stole a car, computers and a video game system belonging to the organization.

The crime scene was discovered Monday, when workers arrived at the Polk Alternative Education Center on B Ave. Checking surveillance videos, the break in occurred Saturday night. Items stolen include 3 laptops, a Wii system and various video games. What's worse however, is the crook also took the club's 2015 Ford 15 passenger van, which has left the group with extremely limited transportation. The van was a donation from Variety, the children's charity earlier this year.

Keep your eyes open for these crimes and report them to the authorities....citizen cops to the rescue! A note to these perpetrators: Don't spread your dirty deeds into places that are assets to our community, and are giving at their core. That cuts deeper than the average stupid criminal.

CRPD is encouraging the guy in this video to turn himself in and return the stolen goods.
