Well, I've done it. I've made a commitment to join a few co-workers for a "weight-loss challenge"!

We had the official "weigh-in"  this morning. As you can see, I have an uphill battle. The above photo was actually a retake--because we forgot to take one of the original weigh-in. I actually clocked in at 227! (We rounded up, because what's another pound when you're that heavy already? P.S., excuse the dirty white socks).

Couple that with me being only 5'5", and that's not acceptable. I knew it was bad, but not that bad.

For the next month, four of my co-workers and I will work toward reaching our goal weights. I've decided to try to lose 10 pounds over the duration of this contest, and 20 by the date of my physical in October.  No more soda, a lot less ice cream, and a LOT more working out are in my future.

We've also added a twist: donations to our favorite local charities.

I've chosen the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha. They're affiliated with Mercy Medical Center, and took amazing care of my Mother in her final days battling cancer, as they do for so many other cancer patients and their families.

So, wish me luck! Listen to our sister station 94.1 KRNA on Tuesday mornings for the live results, or check this space, as I will keep you updated weekly.
