The NBA returns to the US Cellular Center in just over a week (Friday, October 17th to be exact) as the Minnesota Timberwolves make their second Cedar Rapids appearance to take on the Milwaukee Bucks.  This is an event your family and you should not miss, and we're going to help make sure that doesn't happen.

The Wolves’ previous visit to Cedar Rapids was during the 2002-03 season where they fell 95-83 to Boston. This game should turn out better for them as they're coming off their fourth straight season with an improved record, while the Bucks are coming off a season to forget, finishing 15-67 last year.  OUCH!  However, this might be a good chance to catch some major rising stars in action on both teams!

The T-wolves took what some consider a huge blow in the off-season as they lost NBA All-Star Kevin Love. However, trading him off helped them grab this year's number one pick, and University of Kansas star, Andrew Wiggins, as well as last year's number one pick Anthony Bennett. So while they are a team short on experience, you can be sure they'll bring plenty of excitement in this "growth" season.  Don't forget they also have Ricky Rubio on the team, who is already a star that'll help fuel this young team.

Speaking of young, rebuilding teams, take a look at the Bucks, who's got former NBA superstar Jason Kidd as their new head coach, and former Duke superstar Jabari Parker as their new marquee player.  And while they are weak beyond that, they are also on a growth/rebuilding season, which always promises lots of excitement.

In summary, this game promises a battle of 2 of the recent college season's biggest stars, supported by NBA star talent, with 2 teams looking to rebuild for future greatness.  And you could see the career starts of what could be some of the NBA's future "kings"!  Why would you not want to go and experience that, especially when tickets start at under $14, and a portion of each ticket will go to the United Way of East Central Iowa?

Better yet, thanks to Zimmerman Auto Center, KDAT has pairs of tickets we're giving away all this week during "5 For the Drive" with Chris Carson, each weekday afternoon at 5p.  Just listen for the cue to call in, be caller 7, and you win!  On top of that, you'll be entered in to the drawing for the chance to sink a half court shot at halftime, where you could win a new car!*

So whether you win or buy your tickets, just make sure you get them, and plan on witnessing future greatness here in town, next Friday.  (We're not even NBA fans, but we're getting excited writing this!)

* To be eligible for the half court shot promotion, participant must not be a current Varsity Basketball or NCAA player, or have played at that level or above in the past 5 years.
