Some of these go without saying, but we're going to say them anyway.

According to Thrillist, "the average American driver can save over $150 a year simply by cutting back on fuel usage by 10%." Now, a lot of the time we can't control how much or how far we have to drive, but we can control HOW we drive. There are little things you can do (or NOT do) to improve your gas mileage, and we've got the list right here:

  1. Don't slow down for corners
  2. Avoid braking hard for red lights
  3. Don't blast your air conditioning with the windows down
  4. Clean all of the junk out of your car (especially the heavy stuff)
  5. STOP TAILGATING
  6. Don't accelerate too quickly when the light turns green
  7. Keep your tires properly inflated
  8. Always keep up with regular car maintenance, like oil changes
  9. Take your roof rack off when you're not using it
  10. Don't use your  "Automatic Start Stop" button

I don't know much about cars, but even I have heard some of these before. Do you have any tips for getting better gas mileage? Let us know in the comments!
