I've lived in the great state of Iowa for just over two years now. When I first moved here, there were some things about the state that didn't take long for me to realize. Only In Your State came up with a list of '12 Things You Quickly Realize When You Move To Iowa', and I have to say--I agree. Here are some of the things that made the list that, I too, discovered shortly after moving here.

    Giant Tenderloins

The tenderloin sandwiches are HUGE! The first time I noticed this beast of a sandwich was at the Great Jones County Fair in Monticello, Iowa. The ginormous tenderloin made the normal sized bun look dinky. If you're hungry, you can't go wrong with one of these.

    The Butter Cow

There's a giant cow made entirely of butter.....You can see this buttery beauty in all its glory at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. No need to bring any bread, as eating this butter cow is off limits.

    Hawkeye Fans

Yes, there are other colleges in Iowa that have their share of fans. But nothing comes close to the amount of Hawkeye fans in this state. The Hawkeye craze is everywhere! Residents sport their black and gold whenever possible.

Believe it or not, there are actually quite a few famous people from Iowa. Kurt Warner, Elijah Wood, John Wayne are all from the great state. And probably the most famous, Ashton Kutcher, grew up in Cedar Rapids! Find out what other famous people are from Iowa right HERE.

    Caucus

When I first heard the word I thought it sounding like someone was hacking something up. I had never heard of it before, but after the recent election, I'm now well informed. According to Merriam-Webster, a caucus is "a closed meeting of a group of persons belonging to the same political party or faction usually to select candidates or to decide on policy." #TheMoreYouKnow
