In case you weren't aware, pretty much every day is some kind of holiday. Today, is one of the best of all, especially for pet lovers, as it's National Love Your Pet Day.  And who doesn't love their pet?   Our pets give us so much unconditional love, and have been proven to reduce stress and lower blood pressure.  And they do all this while asking almost nothing in return. We spoil them on holidays, birthdays, and really just about every chance we get.  And today's "unofficial" holiday was created just for that.

A little over a year ago, we were going on almost 2 years without a pet in the house, and it was not a fun time.  I wasn't myself, being a little grumpier than the usual bad day.  I could tell my wife and kids weren't as happy either. But now that we've had our Sophie for a bit over a year now, that's all changed.  We spend so much time talking about, watching, or playing with her, we couldn't imagine not having her.

So make an extra stop on your errand run or way home tonight, and pick up a special treat or a new toy. (For us, it's a little bit of wet food at dinner.)  Or maybe, give them a little bit of extra play time, or take them for a longer walk than normal as you enjoy this slight warm-up.  No matter if you have a cat, dog, gerbil, rat, turtle, fish, rabbit, pig, lizard, tarantula, snake, bird, etc., do something special for them, no matter what it is.

Feel free to submit your pet pictures to us to add to our pet gallery, featuring some of our staff's pets.  Just e-mail them to KDAT@KDAT.com with your name (first only is fine) and maybe the town you live in. We look forward to seeing them.
