Top Three Things I’m Looking Forward To This Summer in Cedar Rapids
Warmer weather is EVENTUALLY coming, and I am more than ready for it.
I enjoy summer for all the little reasons (the smell of fresh cut grass, shorts and t-shirts, burgers on the grill)
But these are my Top Three choices for things not to be missed this summer in Cedar Rapids:
- 1
Downtown Farmers Market
Downtown Farmers Market, rated the best in Eastern Iowa. Fresh fruits and veggies are just the start. I hear there is such a wide variety of products, including meats and cheeses, homemade baked goods, jams, jellies...good grief, I can hardly wait! What a shame it is only held every other week.

Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball
Cedar Rapids Kernels Baseball - Nothing says summer like a hot dog and a cold beverage. The only thing that makes that combo better is when it's served in front of a ballgame. Real, live baseball, not a game on a TV screen in some dark tavern or noisy restaurant. But why wait until summer? A doubleheader tonight (due to a rain out last night) and a noon game tomorrow. I'll see you at the ballpark!

Jones County Fair
Concerts, cotton candy and corn dogs! With everything from Classic Rock to Country on the schedule, the Jones County Fair is pure Iowa and just a short drive away.
