It’s been almost three years since the tragic bus crash that nearly claimed Tracy Morgan’s life. The incident still weighs heavily on the 30 Rock and SNL star, but not enough to keep from laughing, as we see in a first trailer for Morgan’s new heartfelt Netflix comedy special, Staying Alive.

Our first look at the May 16 release sees Morgan not only getting his Saturday Night Fever on, but also reminiscing about the aftermath of his accident. It’s not all laughter, as the comedian recalls how he and his young daughter essentially learned to walk at the same time, and have been almost inseparable since.

So reads the Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive synopsis:

He’s back! Tracy Morgan proves a coma can’t keep a good joke down in “Tracy Morgan: Staying Alive.” The hilariously bawdy comedian wastes no time taking on the car accident that nearly claimed his life, leaving a sold-out crowd rolling with laughter at the landmark Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ. Morgan cleverly tackles recovery, the trials of family and getting a second shot at life and marriage.

Morgan marks the latest in a string of comedy greats debuting Netflix specials, among recent high-profile entries from Dave Chappelle and Louis C.K., and upcoming premieres from Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld and more.

Morgan’s special will be available to stream on Tuesday, May 16.
