The other night, 2 horrible things happened: I did something I swore I'd never do, and my son accidentally grabbed our elf on the shelf, followed by a moment of remorse and deep panic.  So now what?

First thing's first: what did I do that was so wrong?  Well, years ago I swore I'd never, ever, EVER, be a person who put clothes on my pets.  It's tacky, strange, and there's no possible way the animals like it.  Right?  So how did I get roped into buying a santa hat and scarf for my cat, and doing this?

What's worse?  I'm actually considering buying a different outfit.

Well shortly after this picture was snapped, my 5yr old son reached up to the table to grab the red accessory he thought we missed.  Problem was, we didn't miss anything.  That red piece was actually our elf, Sneex.  And now the ultimate "Elf on the Shelf" rule was broken: "If you touch the elf, he loses his magic."  My son was devastated.  Now what?

Thanks to wishing and hoping, I found out that thankfully, these things have a way of working themselves out, due to the magic of Christmas.  We woke up the next day to find him in the American Girl doll bed, surrounded by all things elves love, and an e-mail from Santa himself, as well as some magic dust.

Thankfully, Santa knew my son's heart was in the right place, and  that it was all a mistake. The elf is all healed now, the kids are happy again, and Sneex is back up to his old tricks.

Hopefully, this tragedy never happens to you.  But if it does, feel free to reach out.  I might have some helpful "words of web wisdom" for you.  Just e-mail kdat@kdat.com
