Two businesses along First Avenue in downtown Cedar Rapids will close soon to make room for a new building for Skogman Realty. The owners of Albert Auto and Sub City both told the Cedar Rapids Gazette that their downtown locations will close soon.

Sub City says it plans to close on Friday. The store owner does not plan to relocate. The owners of Albert Auto say they need to be out of the building by March 1st. A sign at the store says their last day of business will be February 16th. Albert Auto's other locations are not affected and will remain open.

Skogman Realty owns the two buildings and the Bever Building next door. The company has plans to build a new office where those buildings currently stand. The project would require all three buildings to be torn down. Skogman official says plans are still being discussed and nothing is final.
