Two Excessive Speeding Charges in Iowa Within Hour: One Moron

Some people clearly just don't get it when it comes to the safety of others. Here's a perfect case in point.

The Iowa State Patrol posted on their Facebook page that two different Iowa State Troopers stopped the same man Wednesday afternoon in western Iowa. The state patrol says they clocked him, the first time, at 109 miles-per-hour in a 70 mph zone. That stop happened about 5 p.m., near Adair.

Soon, a different trooper pulled him over again. This time, just north of Neola at mile marker 16. Unfazed by the previous stop, he was traveling 112 this time!

C'mon man, that's 39 and 42 miles-per-hour over the speed limit, respectively. He gave the troopers different excuses about the people in the vehicle being sick each time and was reportedly more concerned with how his credit score would be affected. Guess what buddy, you've got a lot bigger problems than that.

Corey Speth, an attorney in the Linn County Attorney's Office, tells me that one conviction of speeding 25 mph or over the posted limit results in an automatic drivers license suspension. This dude is likely to get two.

These events happen far too often. Earlier this week, a driver was clocked traveling 113 miles-per-hour on Interstate 80 in Des Moines.

Last week, another two-fer. In those instances, the state patrol clocked a driver at 102 mph in a 55. The SAME trooper then stopped the SAME driver, going 85 in a 55 mph zone. I'd probably be using some choice language with the driver if I was that trooper. The fines totaled nearly $640.

Please travel safe and within the speed limit because it's not always about us. The lives of others are at stake and thankfully the actions of these morons didn't result in the loss of any lives. More than 200 people have already been killed on Iowa roadways this year Any of these poor choices could've had very different endings.
