The Cedar Rapids Jaycees said attendance records were broken last weekend for the first Uptown Friday Night of the year at McGrath Amphitheatre. An estimated 3,300 enjoyed the after-work start of the weekend.

This Friday's weather forecast is just as promising as last week, and with another great band on stage (Vicebox!) it's safe to assume a great time will begin as soon as the workday ends at 5 p.m.

Here are some other "stay-at-home" Memorial Day activities and events going on:

Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball is back at Veteran's Memorial Stadium this weekend. The team is hot hot hot and in 1st place! Bring the family for Kids Eat Free Sunday and they can run the bases after the game too!

The Gazette reports a long list of Memorial Day tributes and remembrance services in communities all around Eastern Iowa.

Many will enjoy backyard BBQ, cookouts, picnics and the unofficial start of camping season at area parks and campgrounds.

Be safe, and buckle up!
