The Cedar Rapids floods of 2008 and 2016 and the city's rebound from those devastating disasters has drawn the national attention of the Wall Street Journal.

It was just one year ago this week we experienced a second "once-in-a-lifetime" flood in the City of Five Seasons.

In a recent article titled "After Disaster, City Booms" published on September 19, 2017, the WSJ story details the city's struggles and how it has recovered from it's 10 square miles of underwater landscape to a 25 year master plan executed in a short 5 years.

Investment from the private sector, in addition to federal, local and state disaster relief funds help spark the recovery.

The story of resilience told in the Wall Street Journal article puts Cedar Rapids rebound on to a major platform for all the world to see.

Journalist Shayndi Raice describes the resurgence of Czech Village and the growth of the New Bo area, along with downtown redevelopment citing the city's action of working cooperatively an proactively with business to lead the charge.

The Journal article suggests that the Cedar Rapids' recovery plan could serve as a template that may help Houston area recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.

Good PR from a national publication about little ol' Cedar Rapids. It certainly is something we can all be proud of.
