As a Monticello-native, I haven't had the chance to experience everything Cedar Rapids has to offer yet. Recently, I got the opportunity to take some time away from work and visit the NewBo City Market - one place, in particular, that I have heard a lot about.  For those of you who haven't been there before, I highly recommend you check it out as soon as you can.  Make sure you show up with an empty stomach, too.  There are so many different food vendors, you'll regret not trying at least one!

The delicious scents of popcorn, burgers, and coffee, along with many other foods, hit you as soon as you walk through the door.  I decided to explore and walk around a bit before I settled on eating ice cream and a pulled pork sandwich.  The market was full of people from many different backgrounds and age groups. It seemed everyone was excited and many were trying new things like I was. Every employee I talked to was friendly and willing to tell me about their personal favorites off the menus.

I was already excited for the NewBo Music Festival on August 8, but my first visit to the venue confirmed a few things. First, the people are going to be super friendly and ready to have a good time. Second, this concert, like the market, will bring in people from all different walks of life for great music and good company.

The NewBo Music Festival features Young the Giant, Allen Stone, MINT, Dickie, The Full Body Tones, Shapes & Colors, and Ripple Green. With the concert less than a month away, tickets are selling fast so make sure to get yours before they're gone.  Seven bands for $27?  That’s less than four dollars an artist and a total no-brainer!  VIP tickets are available for $125 for the 21 and over crowd.  A VIP ticket includes a meal voucher for food provided by Parlor City Pub & Eatery and six beverage tickets for use in the VIP area.
