With the winds of change bringing in plenty of cold air this week, like it or not, we're all thinking about what's next. Winter. I'm like the rest of you in wishing fall would stay forever. But before you know it we'll be talking windchills and snow storms. Winters in Iowa vary greatly, so what will this winter bring?

Our friends at the Old Farmer's Almanac have put out their new long-range forecast for the United States and Canada. Here is what they have to say about Iowa.

The coldest periods will be from late November into early December, late December into early January, and early February. How about snowfall. The snowiest periods will be in mid-November, early to mid and late December, and early February.

Overall, it says Iowans can expect a milder than normal winter with normal to above average snowfall and precipitation. Who's ready for winter now?
