There may be no more popular a destination in the state of Iowa this week than the small town of Pella. That's because it's Tulip time! The cities annual Tulip Time Festival runs this Thursday through Saturday. It's a huge celebration of Pella's Dutch heritage with all kinds of food, traditional attire and of course, hundreds of thousands of tulips!

Tulip Time was started in Pella back in 1935. It was an impromptu gathering of Dutch ancestors. Because that first year was a spur of the moment thing, hardly any tulips were planted. That is no longer an issue! This year, nearly 200,000 tulip bulbs were planted in Pella, with most of them at the Pella Historical Society and Museum Gardens.

While you're checking out all the beautiful flowers, make sure and visit the free museums open to the public including the Firehouse museum, the Pell Rolscreen Museum, and the Veteran's Museum. You can also check out the childhood home of Wyatt Earp!

Tulip Time in Pella also features many grandstand shows and a lighted parade on Friday night! Get more information on what's happening this week in Pella HERE!
