Drinking and driving is a very serious issue here in Iowa. Every week you see a new batch of names in the paper of people being arrested for DUI. But as it turns out, the problem is not just here in the Hawkeye State.

According to backgroundchecks.org, "DUI's are up in America. Over 10,000 people were killed and more then 200,000 were injured in 2015 as a direct result of someone driving under the influence."

Backgrounchecks.org created a ranking of states to see what part of the country has the worst DUI problem. Ranking number one was the state of Wyoming. Number two was North Dakota followed by South Dakota. Iowa was ranked 30th overall. Check out the entire list here.

There is some good news for the state of Iowa. We had a 14.3% decrease from the year before the study was conducted. I'm guessing this is because we have options now. Uber is a great and reliable ride home if you've had too much to drink. What I like most about Uber is the cost. It's half the amount of what a cab would be. Uber is fast and very reliable. I've never had an issue.

Special thanks to backgroundchecks.com for posting this article. It reminded me how important it is to have a sober driver if you've had too much to drink.... Life is way too important to risk it all driving drunk.
