.SNOW WILL CONTINUE TO MOVE OUT OF THE THROUGH LATE MORNING. BUT GUSTY

NORTHWEST WINDS WILL OCCUR TODAY AND PRODUCE CONSIDERABLE BLOWING AND

DRIFTING SNOW IN OPEN AREAS ESPECIALLY WEST OF THE MISSISSIPPI

RIVER AND NORTH OF HIGHWAY 30 IN NORTHWESTERN ILLINOIS.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM CST THIS

EVENING...

 

* TIMING...SNOW...HEAVY AT TIMES CONTINUING THROUGH MID MORNING

BEFORE DIMINISHING TOWARD NOON.

 

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES NORTH OF

INTERSTATE 80 THIS MORNING FOR TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF 4 TO 8

INCHES.

 

* WINDS...NORTHWEST 15 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 30 MPH.

 

* TEMPERATURES...IN THE MID TO UPPER 20S.

 

* IMPACTS...TRAVEL WILL BE DANGEROUS THIS MORNING DUE TO THE

FALLING SNOW...AND CONSIDERABLE BLOWING/DRIFTING.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

 

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW MEANS 5 TO 7 INCHES OR MORE

OF SNOW FALLING AT INTENSE RATES OF 1-2 INCHES PER HOUR...IS
