In a move that’s sure to elicit at least a few eye rolls, Warner Bros. has tapped a male screenwriter to collaborate with Patty Jenkins on the Wonder Woman sequel. But before you roll your eyes too hard, Dave Callaham has an existing working relationship with Jenkins: The pair were developing a mystery thriller together before Jenkins took the Wonder Woman gig.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is bringing Callaham on board to co-write Wonder Woman 2 with Jenkins. The Expendables scribe was previously collaborating with Jenkins on an adaptation of Jo Nesbo’s Jackpot when she was asked to helm Wonder Woman. Callaham’s other credits include the new satirical Amazon series Jean-Claude Van Johnson, starring Jean-Claude Van Damme, and a reboot of The Wolf Man for Universal’s Dark Universe franchise.

Jenkins recently signed on to return for the Wonder Woman sequel, securing a historic deal that makes her the highest-paid female sequel director of all time. Although Wonder Woman 2 does not yet have an official plot, Jenkins has said it will likely take place several decades after the first film, which was set during World War I. The follow-up would take place in America during the Cold War.

Wonder Woman has grossed $816 million worldwide, and is the highest-grossing movie of the summer, the highest-grossing live-action movie by a female director, and the highest-grossing movie in the DCEU film series. Gal Gadot is (obviously) returning to reprise her role as the eponymous hero in Wonder Woman 2, which is scheduled to arrive on December 13, 2019.
