Yes, you read that right. At just 16-years-old, a pilot faced with engine failure brought his plane down safely last night.

It happened Sunday night near Yutan, Nebraska, which is just over 30-minutes west of Omaha.

Just before 7 p.m. Sunday evening, the Yutan Volunteer Fire Department says they responded to the call of a plane making an emergency landing in a field northeast of the town of Yutan.

Approximately five minutes later, they arrived on the scene and found the below. The plane was upright in what appears to be a wheat field. The teen pilot wasn't injured and had already exited the aircraft. The plane itself suffered no damage at all.

The unnamed pilot told the emergency crews he was flying alone when he recognized the plane had suffered engine failure and he had to make the emergency landing. Nice work, young man.

Teenager pilots having to make emergency landings isn't all that uncommon. Earlier this summer, another one happened in a much more populated area.

18-year-old pilot Landon Lucas was flying a banner plane near the New Jersey coast when the aircraft suffered a problem that caused it not to get proper fuel flow. CNN reported at the time that Lucas first tried to land at Ocean City Municipal Airport. Continuing problems with the plane made that impossible so Lucas put the plane down on a New Jersey bridge. No one was injured.

The following day, Fox 29 in Philadelphia talked to Lucas about what had happened. Just listen to the young man recount the story of what went on the day before and exactly how he handled it. Another very impressive young man.
