With agriculture being a big part of Iowa's economy, it's a given that you've heard of a "hay ride". Think of the autumn harvest, pumpkins, cider...you get the picture.

This is a bit different. This is a good old fashioned "Hay Drive".

The folks at Unbridled Spirits need a little help. The thoroughbred retirement ranch for horses in Lisbon has a big need for hay. Just last week, the ranch accepted 12 new horses, and that means 12 more big mouths to feed.

If you are a farmer who has a few bales of hay that you can spare, the volunteers at Unbridled Spirits would love to hear from you.  Ideally, they would love to find 100 farmers who could donate 50 bales of good quality hay to help get these horse through these winter months.

Unbridled Spirits is a 501(c)3 charity that relies on private donations to help retired racing horses finish out their lives and avoid being "put down".

You can click here to donate by contacting Unbridled Spirits. They will even make arrangement to have your donated hay picked up, so you don't have to worry about delivery!

So join the KDAT Hay Drive and help us spread the word to Eastern Iowa farmers.
