Someone who bought a lottery ticket in eastern Iowa last week will soon be a multi-millionaire. What's most amazing of all is that they got the winning ticket for free!

The Iowa Lottery says Iowa has its first jackpot winner in Lotto America, a game that started only six months ago. And the person that holds the $4.38 million jackpot-winning-ticket didn't have to pay for it.

The Iowa Lottery is giving away free plays in a May promotion called "Lotto Surprise." The person who purchased the winning ticket at a Kwik Star at 2850 West Locust Street in Davenport got the free Lotto America ticket when they purchased a Powerball ticket.

The winning numbers in Saturday night's Lotto America drawing were 8, 15, 18, 32, and 45. The Star Ball was 1.

The odds of winning Lotto America are much better than that of Powerball. The Lotto America odds are 1 in 26 million, while Powerball's are 1 in 292.2 million. Someone who purchased that ticket in eastern Iowa last week defied the odds... and they didn't even pay for it. I bet you anything they also picked Justify to win Saturday's Kentucky Derby. Some people just have luck... and then there's me.
