Iowans looking to buy medical marijuana products will soon have five locations across the state, starting as early as December.

According to the Des Moines Register, five dispensaries around the state of Iowa were offered permits to sell by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Those cities include: Waterloo, Davenport, Sioux City, Windsor Heights, and Council Bluffs.

Unfortunately, Cedar Rapids met the minimum score, but the Department of Public Health will not providing any additional licenses at this time. If one of the already chosen cities declines, then several others towns including Cedar Rapids could be selected.

All 5 dispensaries will follow the new medical marijuana law. This law allows sales to people suffering from ailments such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's disease or other types of pain.

What do you think of this new development? If you ask me, it's long overdue. There are many people in this state that believe in the beneficial powers of medical marijuana. I'm one of those people, and I sure hope this will help some of my fellow Iowans.
