Giving is the reason for the season and with your help, Sarah can get her Christmas miracle.

If there’s one thing I know about the Quad Cities, it’s how they help those in their community when times are tough. “Iowa nice” is a real thing and I’ve been lucky enough to have witnessed miracle-after-miracle of giving, right here in my own backyard.

I have had a few, really wonderful times with Sarah Barten. Sarah is a mother to six children, has been a yoga teacher and is currently a counselor at Unity Point Top of the World Ranch in rural Milan, IL., helping people with addiction. She is very passionate about helping others and often would offer to host a play date with her kids and mine, she’d help by lending an ear during a difficult time and would lovingly offer Shirodhara treatments to calm and relax my mind, body and soul during stressful times. She is the only person I know in the Quad Cities who is trained to do this. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had for my health.

A GoFundMe has been set up by her friend Ryan Pierce. He says,

“My dear friend Sarah Barten was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Her treatment plan involves 5 months of aggressive chemotherapy, followed by surgery and radiation. The medical bills are already rolling in and adding up quickly. While I know she would never ask for help, that doesn’t mean I can’t ask for her. Sarah is one of the kindest, most selfless people I’ve ever met, and I want to do whatever I can to help minimize the impact of these necessary but expensive medical bills.”

Her work helping others has only just begun. She needs us to help her continue on so she can continue to help make this world a better place. It is true that those who have been through the most and help behind-the-scenes, are often the last to ask for help.

Please join the Facebook group Stand Up for Sarah, share and donate what you can to help make this Christmas miracle come true.
