A New Bar & Restaurant Has Opened in Downtown Cedar Rapids

A Cedar Rapids bar has gotten a bit of an upgrade!

According to Facebook, The Keg is now open at 719 5th St SE in Cedar Rapids, which is the former home of Clancey's Keg. The bright yellow building has received a total makeover over the past few months, both inside and out. The official Facebook page says it is a "new and improved" version of the former bar. A post from back in April reads:

"We’ve been working hard every single day to make The Keg the cleanest, friendliest, funnest bar and grill in town!"

The initial estimated opening day for The Keg was earlier this year, but things took a little bit longer than expected. On Monday, June 28th, one day before the bar and restaurant was set to open, the owner announced that the grand opening would be delayed to July 3rd. The post says:

"Yes, we had planned on being open by tomorrow but delays happen and anyone who's been in this business understands that. Yes, we wanted to be open months ago. Yes we know we've delayed opening multiple times. But the reality is, we need just a bit more time to complete the finishing touches so that everyone has the best experience when they come in. We are so excited for everyone to see the labor of love that we've created here for you all." 

If you're looking to stop by The Keg for a meal, the menu includes classic bar fare like wings, nachos, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. The also offer a variety of flatbread pizzas, including Walking Taco, Bruschetta Chicken, Reuben, and Bacon Cheeseburger, as well as lots of appetizers, like mini corn dogs, spicy white cheddar nuggets, beer-battered onion rings, steak bites, BBQ bacon-wrapped pork skewers, and coconut shrimp. The Keg's kitchen hours are Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. The bar opens at 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. on weekends. You can check out the latest updates from The Keg HERE.
