A New Coffee Shop Has Opened in Uptown Marion

With so much news about businesses closing, we're so happy to share some news with you about a business opening!

Yesterday, a new coffee shop officially opened in Uptown Marion. It's called Uptown Coffee Company and it's located at 760 11th Street, right in front of Uptown Snug. 

The business' website says that it is owned by "Rex and Lex." The page reads:

"Rex, is a chef from Chicago with a life long passion for coffee and all of it's intricacies. Ask him about coffee, food, cars or bikes and if he's had his 3 double shots he will give you more than you bargained for on any subject.

Lex, is the business side of things with a background in music and a passion for entrepreneurship. She takes care of all the plant babies and keeps the wheels on the tracks."

The menu offers beverages like hot coffee, cold coffee, kombucha, and espresso, but there are some food options, too! In addition to Donutland donuts, they also offer paninis, breakfast bakes, a BLT, a chicken salad melt, and a roasted veggie cheesesteak.

An Iowan named Joe Sample recently reviewed the coffee shop in a new post on the Cedar Rapids, IA Small Business - Delivery/Takeout/Curbside & Other Facebook page, and he had nothing but good things to say! He showed off a photo of the sausage panini and it looks delicious!

The owners of Uptown Coffee Company are aware that there isn't any "playbook" for opening a business in the midst of a pandemic, so they have outlined some of the ways they are making the shop safe for customers and staff.

The business will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can order online HERE.

The Marion Chamber of Commerce will be helping Uptown Coffee Company celebrate its grand opening with a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 5th at 12 p.m. The coffee shop will be offering samples at the event.
