An Annual Car Show is Happening in Monticello This Weekend

Make your way over to Monticello this weekend to check out some awesome vehicles! The 52nd Annual Rod and Custom Car Show will be held at the Berndes Center this Saturday and Sunday, February 27th and 28th.

According to the official press release, the 2021 event will feature all sorts of family fun. It reads:

"This year’s event will feature a new selection, including some never-seen-before street rods, custom cars, street machines, hot pickups, race cars and custom motorcycles."

In addition to the vehicles, DJ Dave Palmer will be playing music, caricature artist David Fliss will be providing free portraits, and “Papa Balloon” Mark Garvey will be handing out free balloon creations. And, don't forget about the food! The Monticello Eagles Club Ladies Auxiliary #4466 will serve their "famous" turkey dressing sandwiches and other delicious items.

In years past, various celebrities like Henry Winkler and Lou Ferrigno have made appearances at the Rod and Custom Car Show, but not this year. An article from the Cedar Rapids Gazette says that, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, there won't be any special guests, and there will be new safety guidelines in place. Attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask at this year's event.

The 52nd Annual Rod and Custom Car Show will take place this Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 766 North Maple Street in Monticello. The price of admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under, or FREE with a paid adult. You can also bring a canned food item to donate to Four Oaks for $1 off your ticket.
